On March 1, 2011. This marked the beginning of what would become an 11 year civil war. Peace Corps continued to serve in Sierra Leone until finally pulling out in 1994 due to the instability and violence. Regan said training seemed a bit impromptu, likely similar to those first years in the 1960s. Peace Corps was new to the area and new to post-conflict.
